With a background in audio editing, video editing was a fairly simply transition – I was just adding in video!
I started with the Adobe Suite of products – Premiere Pro, After Effects and the like. It was while using Magic Lantern on the Canon 5d that I came across Blackmagic’s Divinci Resolve as part of my workflow. Slowly, I realised I liked, and could do more and more in Resolve and eventually it became my primary editor.
The best bit? It’s totally free.
I recently purchased a Studio version from Photogear in Ponsonby – there were a couple of features that I wanted that you needed to get the licence for.
Resolve is well worth checking out. It’s a heavyweight system, for a lightweight price – even if you opt into getting the studio version.
While I was at it, I installed a sliding tray for the speed editor – the problem being – because it’s on a standing desk – I can’t set the slider back enough. Doesn’t matter – still works. More space for stickers!
